PEF formalizes partnership with BUKDA

In 6th day of February 2023, the MOA signing between the PEF and the Bukidnon Umayamnon Tribe Kapu-unan To Mga Datu (BUKDA) was held at Malaybalay City, Bukidnon with Datu Jimuel Perino, the leader of the tribe, and the head claimant of each designated areas present as well. A forum was held to ensure that a consensus was reached and that possible concerns and/or objections are discussed.

A “Pandawat" was held, a ritual confirming that BUKDA council acknowledges the agreement with the Philippine Eagle Foundation. The council members and Dr. Jayson Ibanez signed the MOA afterwards. With the successful signing of the memorandum of agreement between the PEF and BUKDA, we can now move forward with them to the next step of the conservation and protection of the Philippine Eagle and its habitat in Cabanglasan, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

This activity is part of the USAID-INSPIRE Project "Securing Sacred Areas, Culture, Rivers, and Endangered Biodiversity within Ancestral Domains at the Northern Pantaron Bioregion (SACRED)". A project that will secure biodiversity and strengthen sustainable landscapes through carefully coordinated actions of citizens, CSO, government, and private actors. This 3-year project aims to have a consortium of stakeholders that will manage the Northern Pantaron Range (NPR) as a biodiversity, water, and carbon sanctuary while upholding human well-being and resilience.
