JAYSON C. IBAÑEZ, PhD
Director for Operations

Dr. Jayson C. Ibañez is a Filipino conservation biologist and currently serves as Director for Operations of the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF). He is widely recognized for advancing conservation approaches that integrate rigorous field ecology with Indigenous-led, community-based governance systems. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology (Wildlife Ecology) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He completed his Master of Science in Biology (Zoology) at Ateneo de Davao University, and later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Natural Resource Management from Charles Darwin University, with a dissertation centered on knowledge integration and Indigenous planning.

Across his career, Dr. Ibañez has contributed significantly to Philippine Eagle science and conservation, including work on breeding ecology, telemetry-based monitoring, and habitat-based population estimation using satellite imagery and movement data. He is a recipient of the Whitley Award (2015) and the 2023 International Alumni Award from Charles Darwin University.
